Yes, you’ve read that right. After two months of amazing blogging results, in October I nearly gave blogging up.
Why?
Because I’ve forgotten how nice it felt to turn your digital life off and to find time for a much-deserved rest and quality time with friends and family.
But even though I think about making week-offs a habit or at least start spending fewer hours online, I do enjoy blogging and the creative outlet it offers so I’ve decided to get a grip and keep going.
Here’s what else happened.
October Blogging Report
Personal focus
I wish I could say that this past month I was focused on monetizing my blog or growing my audience.
The truth is that there were some major personal events this month, some of them delightful, some of them shocking. But in both cases, they’ve completely taken my focus off blogging. So much, that I was actually considering giving up.
The two weeks I’ve spent away from my computer were so peaceful, and I had so much free time for myself and my family, that I actually wondered whether I should come back to it.
What did I do instead of working? I spent my days playing with the kids, watching old favorite oldies, and going out with friends, and I spent my evening reading for pleasure and not for personal development. Fourteen books to be exact! I don’t think I’ve read this much in total since I became a mom two years ago.
Well, fortunately, I’ve come to my senses. I’ve dedicated too much time and effort to it to give up now that I’m finally starting to see some results.
So here I am, back on track. Although to be honest, I still think a week off every month may be a good idea. Maybe not for my blog’s SEO but definitely for my well-being.
Posts
This month was the second time I’ve missed scheduling a post since I started blogging back in February. And I felt terribly guilty about it. Here’s what was new on the blog in October.
Stats
Funny thing is, although I didn’t dedicate as much time and effort to the blog, my stats are still improving. Here are the stats for my October blogging report:
- Sessions: +17%
- Site visitors: +17%
- Organic traffic: +38%, with a whooping +397% increase in GSC impressions (I may need to work on my titles though).
- Facebook page: likes +31% and follower +29%
- Pinterest page: impressions +26%, followers +16% and traffic +50%
I also got an increase in my Amazon earnings which is awesome, even though they are still low.
Goals
October
Time to start working towards my Q4 goals, here are the first granular tasks:
- Launch and Etsy store and post at least 3 products. – Launched but only with a single listing
- Add 2 more freebies to the Resource Library. – failed miserably
- SEO old posts. – at least this one is done, I managed to update a few old posts.
November
I’ll have to up my game a bit in November if I want to reach my quarterly goals, but essentially, I’ll have the same priorities as last month.
- Add a few new listings to Etsy
- Add freebies to the library
- SEO old posts.

That’s all folks, thank you for your support, and see you around!
